Frans van Mieris the Younger (1689-1763)

This double portrait of the painter Frans van Mieris the Elder and his wife Cunera van der Cock is a copy after Frans van Mieris the Elder’s self-portrait from 1665, now in gallery Prins Willem V The Hague and an unknown portrait of his wife. This portrait was probably made by his grandson Frans van Mieris the Younger. He painted in the style of his father Willem van Mieris and his grandfather. He made a few portraits of his father and grandfather. In the collection of Museum de Lakenhal is a painting called ‘Three generations’. It shows Frans van Mieris the Elder, Willem van Mieris and Frans van Mieris the Younger.
