Description
This blue and white box and cover in a circular cushion form is brightly painted with flowers and leaves. On the cover is a landscape with rocks and flowers, encircled with a geometrical band and scrolling flowers and leaves. The base of the box is decorated with the same scrolling flowers and leaves.
This box of Kangxi blue and white porcelain was produced in China during the reign of the Emperor Kangxi. Kangxi blue and white porcelain features delicate and refined designs, inspired by the periods that went before. These designs are combined with great technical skills to make high quality porcelain with a brilliant under-glaze blue for the painting and a fine white glaze applied to a very white body. The most beautiful examples of Kangxi blue and white porcelain rival any other Chinese blue and white porcelain produced during earlier periods.
