Description
This pair of gothic oak trestles originally stood in the Herkenrode abbey in Hasselt, Belgium. These trestles are a great example of fashionable medieval stylistic elements: trapezoidal in form, tracery of tre- and quatrefoils stylized with leaf motifs, topped-off with rosettes. Medieval trestles are incredibly rare and therefore dating and placing them is difficult, but as the present trestles originate from the Herkenrode abbey in Hasselt, a production in the immediate area is plausible.
